Jim Partington earned his commission as an ensign and naval aviator wings in 1961. He graduated from the Naval War College Command and Staff course in 1971 and the National Defense University Capstone Course for Flag and General Officers in 1989. He retired as a Rear Admiral in 1992 and returned to his original home in Lincoln, Neb. Following retirement he entered the electronics industry as Vice President, Strategic Planning and International Operations for Senior Technologies, Inc. in Lincoln and held this position for four years before accepting a position as President of the Cable Test Division of Radiodetection, Ltd. Jim retired from electronics in 2002 after the company was sold and relocated from Lincoln. He joined the Nebraska Restaurant Association as Executive Director in 2003.
