J. Dixon Esseks is emeritus professor of public administration from Northern Illinois University and a visiting scholar at the Center for Great Plains Studies, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While at the Center, he has completed two national-level program evaluations for the USDA of the Forest Stewardship Program (2005) and of the Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (2006). The study discussed in the article above is due to be completed next summer. Since June 2005 he has been a member of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission.
